Procedural Utility Tools
A set of tools to ensure procedural systems stay within constraints and remain production-safe.
measurement
Simple measurement tool in Houdini that reads bounding extents in X, Y, Z. It gives immediate spatial feedback, helps validate scale, proportions, and consistency—especially useful when building procedural assets where small size errors quietly break everything.
variation
Generates variations by driving dimensions from attributes within custom ranges. Each instance is adjusted procedurally, then verified using the measurement tool to ensure constraints are respected. Useful for controlled variation—keeps diversity while avoiding scale drift or breaking downstream assumptions.
Scattering
scatter variation objects with control
slope measurment
Measures surface slope across the geometry and visualizes it as a mask (e.g., red = steep). Helps identify where deformation, erosion, or placement rules should apply. Useful for driving procedural decisions like scattering, material blending, or stability checks based on angle.
